Children's Homes
Daily food, clothing, schooling, and a stable home for children whose families cannot provide it. We support three partner homes, including Christ Embassy Children's Home and Lighthouse Orphanage.
Since the early 2000s
For more than twenty years, Light of Burma has walked alongside children's homes, schools, and clinics — from the Chin Hills in the west to the central plains and Rangoon. Local leaders carry the work. We help carry the cost.
What We Do
Our partners are not project sites — they are people we have known for decades. The work takes different shapes in different places, and that is the point.
Daily food, clothing, schooling, and a stable home for children whose families cannot provide it. We support three partner homes, including Christ Embassy Children's Home and Lighthouse Orphanage.
Tuition, supplies, teacher support, and meals across our five partner schools, plus the construction of new schools in communities where war has destroyed access entirely. Programs in Hriphi, Zephai, and Thau in Chin State, with growing work in Rangoon.
Free medical care, food relief, and emergency support reaching families across central Burma — including those without faith communities of their own to lean on.
From our co-founder
“I came to America as a refugee from Chin State. I do not forget what it took to get here, or who is still there. Twenty years ago I asked a few friends to help me build something for the children I left behind. They said yes — and they have not stopped saying yes.”
Rev. Bawi Lian · Co‑founder & President
Who we are
Light of Burma is the public name of Liberty in Myanmar, a Michigan 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 88-2160162). We were formally incorporated in 2022, but the partnerships we steward go back more than two decades.
We keep our overhead deliberately small. The board serves without compensation. Nearly every dollar travels — through trusted local hands — to the place it was given for.
