Liberty in Myanmar Inc operates this website as Light of Burma. We are a small organization, and our data practices reflect that.
Effective: April 30, 2026
This policy explains how Liberty in Myanmar Inc, a Michigan 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 88‑2160162) operating publicly as Light of Burma, handles information collected through lightofburma.org. References to “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Liberty in Myanmar Inc.
This website is informational. We do not run accounts, comment systems, or on‑site forms. The information we receive falls into a small number of categories.
Email you send us. When you click an email link on the site (such as hello@lightofburma.org) and write to us, we receive your email address, your name, and the contents of your message. We use this to respond to you.
Donation information. Gifts are processed by Givebutter, a third‑party donation platform. When you give, Givebutter collects your name, contact information, and payment details, and provides us with a donor record. We use this information to acknowledge your gift, issue a tax receipt, comply with IRS recordkeeping requirements, and — if you have asked to hear from us — send updates about the work.
Hosting logs. Our hosting provider, Netlify, automatically logs technical information about visits, including IP address, browser type, and pages viewed. These logs are kept by Netlify under their terms and used for security and operations.
We do not sell, rent, or trade donor or visitor information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate — primarily Givebutter (donation processing), Netlify (hosting), and our email provider — and only as needed for them to do their work on our behalf. We may also share information when required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of the people we work with.
Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts and embed the Givebutter donation widget on the giving page. These third parties may set their own cookies. Their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies. We do not run independent analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
Our work supports children abroad, but this website is directed at adult supporters and partners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email us and we will remove it.
We do not publicly list donors without permission. If you ask to give anonymously, we will honor that request. Major donor names appear on our IRS Form 990 Schedule B, which is filed with the IRS but is not part of the public 990 record for 501(c)(3) public charities.
You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to our legal recordkeeping obligations. The fastest way to do any of this is to email hello@lightofburma.org. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Union), you may have additional rights under local law — we will honor those rights as required.
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including limiting access to those who need it and using vetted service providers. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every form of compromise. We retain donor records and related correspondence as long as needed to operate the organization and meet IRS, state, and audit requirements.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with an effective date.
Questions about this policy or the information we hold should be sent to hello@lightofburma.org.
